One of the best purchase we ever made for the family is the Xbox Kinect Game system. Not only do the kids love playing games but we’ve found a brand new fun and interactive way to participate in family game night by playing Xbox Kinect interactive games with the kids. We really enjoy the Xbox Dance Games out on the market already but when I heard about The Hip Hop Dance Experience featuring Hip Hop Dance music from today’s popular artists from back in day I jumped at the chance to review it.

I’ve always enjoyed listening to Hip Hop Music and love choreography in artist dance video’s. I’ve grown up dancing in Clubs and today still love Hip Hop music from Hip Hop groups such as Naughty By Nature, Nelly, Pitbull, Chris Brown, Rhianna, J-Kwon, LMFAO and so many others. This Dance Game is not like so many of the others we’ve played.

The avatars look like real people and you can customize their look right down to the clothes they wear, hair, eye color, and facial structure. They are real people cartoon avatars dressed up in Hip Hop Club clothes.

My favorite part in Dance Party Mode is the artist video playing in the background during the Dance Party mode. You can actually watch clips while you dance and follow the moves to your avatar. That is super cool!!

About the game:
Drop it like it’s hot with hip-hop’s hottest dance game. The Hip-Hop Dance Experience is the first authentic hip-hop game in the dance category. Dance to the most popular tracks of the genre with original moves designed by the most famous hip-hop choreographers in the industry. Watch the game trailer now!

Game Modes
Dance Party: Play on your own or with a friend. Each person can select your dance level mode. You’ll be selecting a song from any of the 40 Dance songs on the menu. Follow the avatar moves to gain your points. At the end of dance play you’ll see your best and worst dance moves and the points you accumulated.
Dance Battle: Two player dance battle each other to boost the battle meter and the player with the most moves correct by the end of the song wins.
Dance Marathon: My favorite mode because of it’s continuous dance music selection! In this mode the songs continue to play as your follow the avatar to perform the choreography dance moves. You’ll get points as you continue to performed correctly but you can lose diamonds for those that you don’t. You dance til you can’t dance no more.
Power Skooling: Shows you each hip hop move is called along with the way to perform it. Identifies the move, slows it down so you can learn step by step to perfect it. Great for those who want to learn cool fly dance moves to impress their friends. *Tip: To slow down the temp just raise your right hand
Wardrobe: Select your avatar and customize with hip hop clothing, facial features, hair and eye color and even add sunglasses and tattoos.

My Review of Hip Hop Dance Experience : I’m really hyped about playing the Hip Hop dance Experience and love that it gives me a work out. I certainly can see many of these moves done in the hottest clubs. I love that it shares how many calories your burn in the Dance Marathon mode. I’ll be mastering those moves in no time. I can get through 3 songs at best before it drops me but the more I do the better I get. I wish there was a way to turn off the break time that comes during the song. The break time is when the avatar breaks out on its own dancing and showing some moves. I’m not sure why this is added in the game other than giving me an opportunity to run for water.

I catch myself singing to songs all the time. I break a sweat every time and I really should remember to have water on hand instead of running for some in the middle of game play. I feel like I’m working my muscles and love that I’m burning calories while I’m dancing and having fun. This truly is a great workout even if your only planning on Dancing for fun.  I love the continuous song dance play during Dance Marathon Mode but wish there was a way to turn off the diamond drop mode. This is what happens when you don’t make all the moves the game basically shuts down the song and buts you back to the start. I suppose its good for the people who like to measure up on Letter board on Xbox live.

For the most part I really love this game and I’ve played it 5x since it arrived. I’ve changed the clothes on my avatar several times and gave her a new look. I love all the options to changing up your avatar.

The Little avatar dancing up at the top that’s a shadow image of Me!

Multi-player is great. When someone wants to join in they simply just walk on screen and start up an avatar to join you. There are 2 avatars on screen. 1 that’s me and the other you follow. You can create a male of female avatar.

The game says it’s for teens and I would say if your child is really skilled at catching on by watching an avatar or with dance moves let them give this a try.  I’m kinda rusty and some of dance moves that avatar does I couldn’t pull off on my best  day but I certainly like to give it a try. Most of the time I’ll save those moves for the younger generation.

not one of my best moves lol
